Q&A 2014 Shaqquan Aaron

by College Basketball Recruiting

Shaqquan Aaron signing autographs with a young fan.

Shaqquan Aaron is one of the most electric players in the country and he is only a sophomore. He holds about a half a dozen offers. This is remarkable considering he isn’t even able to play High School Basketball this season due to in-eligibility because of a school transfer. Yet this hasn’t slowed down his recruitment as many colleges around the country recognized the talent and potential of Aaron as a freshman and on the AAU circuit with Dream Vision and SCA.

Left Coast Recruiting was able to catch up with Aaron and ask him a few questions about what is happening during his sophomore year and what schools he is hearing from.

What is your height and weight?

I’m 6′ 8 and weigh about 170.

What position are coaches recruiting you for?

Point Guard/Guard

What is your playing style?

I’m not a selfish player. I get my teammates involved in the game. I can see the floor, pass, and I know where to get my teammates the ball.

I have a great handles and a great jumper, I am very athletic. I have the ability too play the 1, 2, 0r 3 and can score at will.

What are you looking for in a future university?

A good environment, great education, and a competitive basketball program where I can roll.

What schools are recruiting you?

Arizona, UCONN, Syracuse, UNLV, UCLA, St. John’s, Washington, San Diego State have all offered.

The others with interest are Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kentucky, Texas, Louisville, Pitt, and the entire Pac-12.

What schools are after you the hardest?

Syracuse, UCONN, Arizona, UNLV are probably coming the hardest right now.

What are you doing to train outside of school?

I train with my dad which I’ve been doing my whole life and that is what got me to this point. My main focus is on getting “stronger”. I’ve been working really hard specifically on that.

Why do you think you are already making so much noise at this point in your High School career?

I just think I stand out. I’m unique. What I do on and off the court.

What would you say that is, that stands out from other players?

Coaches know that I’m talented but what they see is my work ethic. The will to win. And when coaches come to my practices and games they see how hard I work.

Do you plan to decide your senior year?

Yes, probably the end of my junior year.

When do you plan to narrow down this list?

After I visit more colleges.

Unofficially?

Yes.

What schools have you visited or are you planning to visit in the near future?

I have visited Arizona, UNLV, UCLA, Kansas and I plan on visiting UCONN soon.
