Not too many people outside of the state of Washington have heard about Lucas Meikle. The 2013, 6-foot-8 big man attends Bellarmine Preparatory High School in Tacoma, Washington. Meikle is a skilled big man who can hurt an opposing team in many ways.
When you see Meikle play, you will leave the game impressed. Meikle is one of those players who has the intangibles that will continue to make him better as time goes by. There isn’t really much Meikle can’t do on the court.
The big man has more than a couple post-up moves. He is a versatile big who can utilize the backboard, rebound, block shots, and has a nice face up game.
Many colleges have shown interest in the Bellarmine Prep Lion but no offers have been made.
“The schools that I’m hearing from are Washington, Washington State, Gonzaga, California, Boise State, Seattle U, and Nevada. I am hearing from them pretty consistently now but no offers.”
Mekile’s high school coach Bernie Salazar has been quoted in the Tacoma News Tribune saying “Meikle’s game reminds me of Dirk Nowitzki, just a little less athletic”. The comparison isn’t bad if Meikle grows another couple inches.
Some might call Meikle a little undersized at the next level. Not too many big men are versatile as Meikle either. There’s a good chance the interest from colleges Meikle has will turn into offers by the end of the season. Left Coast Recruiting will be following the big man’s progress and recruitment.
