6-foot-5 shooting guard Ryan Oliver had a nice show out at the National Prep Showcase over the weekend averaging 19 points. The California native was at Loyola High School last year. This year Oliver attends Northfield Mt. Hermon. Originally class of 2011, Oliver reclassified to 2012 due to an ACL injury.
Left Coast Recruiting caught up with Oliver to see how things have been for the young man.
How has your recruiting been going?
Siena, Hartford, Hampton, UC Irvine, Colgate, and Northeastern are all recruiting me.
Do you have any offers?
Hartford is the only offer I have as of now.
Have any new schools contacted you since the National Prep Showcase?
My coach told me Ohio, Bradley, Boston College, Delaware, and Air Force have reached out to him.
For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
I am a combo guard who can score in a variety of ways. I love to win and will do all in my power to help my team come up with a W. I also love to make the extra pass and the smart plays to help my team win.
What have coaches told you that you need to work on?
The main thing is my strength. I need to continue to get stronger. I also need to work on my athleticism and lateral speed to become a quicker player. I know I will get my speed back. I had my ACL surgery in October of 2010.
Do you have any schools that you are interested in?
I am open to any school. I don’t mind location. I just want to go to a school that has a shot at making the tournament every year and a coaching staff that can get me better at the next level.
Oliver’s list will continue to grow as the season progresses. Left Coast Recruiting will follow the situation closely.
